320P6W: the 20 A single-phase feed
Two poles and earth, 200–250 V, 20 A North American / 16 A IEC, IP67. It is the plug on the cord that runs from an overhead busway tap or a wall receptacle to a rack PDU whose inlet is a C20 or C14, and on cords that go straight to a server's C19 or C13. We list these cords today in the 6h cell: 320P6W to C13, C15, C19 and C21, including the A-Lock connectors that hold in the equipment, and to NEMA 6-15R, 6-20R, L6-15R, L6-20R and L6-30R.
9h blue on five wires: the North American three-phase whip
3ØY 120/208 V is the rack distribution voltage in most North American data centres: three phases at 120 V to neutral, 208 V between phases. On a five-wire body that is 9h, blue. A 30 A rack PDU takes a 530P9W; a 60 A one a 560P9W. These whips are built to order and the clock says so on those cells; ask and we quote with lead time.
9h blue on four wires: 208 V delta
Where the PDU needs only line-to-line 208 V, the neutral goes away and the body is four wire: 430P9W or 460P9W. Same hour, same colour, one fewer sleeve.
Abroad: 6h red 3P+N+E
A 230/400 V rack in Europe or Asia takes the 6h red five-wire body at 16 or 32 A (the 20 and 30 A cells on our clock). The cable behind it is H07RN-F or a harmonised PVC cord to the local rules.
Why not a locking NEMA plug
An L6-30P locks too, but it does not stop you plugging 208 V into a 120 V PDU, and it does not seal. Pin & sleeve does both, which is why the busway makers standardised on it.
